The following year, I went to college, became an English major, and with an exception of a few odd-and-end art/design classes, seldom drew. (Does life ever make you choose between 'the image' and 'the word' - between art and literature? It makes me choose all the time. And I feel myself torn. I find it's hard for my brain and heart to be fully devoted to both.)
Seven years have passed and I've felt an itch to draw again for a while. I don't know if I can anymore. (I have such doubts!) But I'm really going to try, and if you don't mind, I will attempt to share my pieces with you. Hopefully, it will be a good motivator to keep me going, so stay tuned. Have a wonderful weekend!

These are incredible! I could draw my whole life and never come close to these. Do give it a go again and pretty please do share with us! xoxo katie
ReplyDeleteThanks Katie, I really appreciate your support! I got a little bashful and decided to take the pictures down but I will most definitely share my future projects. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteAw..! I missed your artwork..! Well, I think you need to go back to try to recapture that mad, happy feeling... no? And I completely relate to feeling like you have to choose to do something well... But the longer I live, the more I realize that I love many things and perhaps I'm happiest when I have a little bit of each in my life - even at the expense of not being grand at any of them. I think you have to do what makes you happy - and from what you wrote here, drawing did that for you.

I'm always moving between image and text. I love both and feel more attached to one for a wave and then a wave of the other. I'm in more of a text wave at the moment. Bashful? No... I'm jealous. I want to see your pictures and it seems I'm arriving too late. Maybe your next post?
ReplyDeleteMaria and Denise,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments! I admire both of you and your tastes so much and your words mean a lot to me.
I've posted some of my drawings here, for now, and I think I'm going to keep on adding to it and link to it from my blog in the future as my work starts to accumulate.
Thank you again!
Ann
Ann, I really love the girl with the slender arms...and the beets...and the map. There is such diversity in the selection you've shared. You've answered your question, you are scratching the itch. You can draw! If this is all recent work, it seems your output is still pretty high. I'll be looking forward to seeing your new additions as you share them. I hope you are feeling mad and happy--enjoy! -Denise
ReplyDeleteAlas, not recent work! But I'll add some more recent stuff soon. Thank you so much Denise, you're awesome. :)
